Emily Brontë - The Complete Poems of Emily Jane Brontë
_Az 1992-es, Gezari-féle kiadás fülszövege:_
This volume constitutes the first major edition of Emily Brontë's complete poems to appear for half a century.
"A family in whom appears to run a certain instinct of song ... rising, in that of Ellis, into an inspiration," wrote the _Athenaeum_, reviewing _Poems_ (1846) by the "three brothers" Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell. Twenty-one of Emily Brontë's poems appeared in that volume, passionate songs of the spirit and of nature, and they were the only poems of hers to be published in her lifetime.
For this new edition Janet Gezari has arranged the poems as nearly as possible in chronological order of composition, printing the published texts of the 1846 poems but otherwise taking the most recent manuscript versions. She also provides a scholarly introduction and extensive textual and contextual annotations to the poems.

Gavin Pretor-Pinney - The Wavewatcher's Companion
One bright February afternoon on a beach in Cornwall, Gavin Pretor-Pinney took a break from cloudspotting and started watching the waves rolling into shore. Mesmerised, he wondered where they had come from, and decided to find out. He soon realised that waves don't just appear on the ocean, they are everywhere around us, and our lives depend on them. From the rippling beats of our hearts, to the movement of food through our digestive tracts and of signals across our brains, waves are the transport systems of our bodies. Everything we see and hear reaches us via light and sound waves, and our information age is reliant on the microwaves and infrared waves used by the telephone and internet infrastructure. From shockwaves unleashed by explosions to torsional waves that cause suspension bridges to collapse, from sonar waves that allow submarines to 'see' with sound to Mexican waves that sweep through stadium crowds...there were waves, it seemed, wherever Gavin looked. But what, he wondered, could they all have in common with ones we splash around in on holiday? By the time he made the ultimate surfer's pilgrimage to Hawaii, Gavin had become a world-class wavewatcher, although he was still rubbish at surfing. And, while this fascinating, funny book may not teach you how to ride the waves, it will show you how to tune into the shapes, colours and forms of life's many undulations.
Gavin Pretor-Pinney - The Cloudspotter's Guide
'The clouds are nature's poetry, and the most egalitarian of her displays, since everyone has an equally fantastic view of them. Clouds are for dreamers, and their contemplation benefits the soul. Yet their beauty is so everyday as to be in danger of being overlooked...' Gavin Pretor-Pinney is the chairman and founder member of the Cloud Appreciation Society. He contends that we are blessed in this country with a uniquely rich and varied cloudscape, which has hitherto been sadly undervalued. His book teaches us to appreciate their different varieties - the cumulus, nimbostratus and Morning Glory to name only a few - and all their beauties and significances, both meteorological and cultural. We learn how Hindus believed the cumulus clouds were the spiritual cousins of elephants, how thermal air currents act on fair weather cumuli, and how to save a fortune in psychiatric bills by using the clouds as Rorschach images that reflect our state of mind as well as nature's moods. Looking up will never be the same again.

Kerstin Ekman - The Dog
From the author of the highly acclaimed Blackwater comes a beautiful fable exploring the bond between a man and a dog In the heart of the tranquil countryside, a young puppy leaves his home to eagerly follow his mother and master. But away from the safe haven of the farm, the puppy soon becomes lost and is left to struggle for survival in the wild. Suddenly, he must find food and a safe place to sleep, and outwit his competitor, the fox. The puppy becomes wild himself, trusting no human and furiously fighting the hunting dogs that enter his domain. But one man is intrigued by the now-unruly dog and very slowly begins to gain his trust. Each day he visits the dog, bringing food and awakening memories of his distant domestic past. The lost relationship between man and dog is rebuilt in this sensitive and intelligent story about the true nature of trust and friendship.

Nils-Aslak Valkeapää - The Sun, My Father
_From the Preface_
Nils-Aslak Valkeapää was born in 1943 to a reindeer breeding family in Sapmi, homeland of the Sami, whom outsiders called "Lapps" or "Laplanders". A Finnish citizen, he lives in Both Norway and Finland. HE studies and received teacher's certification, but instead of teaching, devoted his life to the arts. A multimedia artist himself, he has aso given much of his time to helping other Sami artists and writers. His literary career began with a book of essays, published in Finnish in 1071. His paintings, drawings and photographs have been exhibited wildly. His acting career includes the role of the village chief in the well-known film, Pathfinder. He opened the 1994 Winter Olympic Games, in Lillehammer, Norway, by performing a sequence of yoiks, which he composed for the occasion. He served as teh first cultural coordinator in the World Council of Indigenous People. He says that he has never written with the aim of being translated and that some of his writing is "intended to be read only by Sami".
Nils-Aslak Valkeapää's work serves as a link between past and present. The Sun, My Father is an example of this linking. According to one myth, the Sami are the children of the sun, and the poet honors that myth, reaching back into the Sami past from the point of view of modern Sami.
Our translation team - Ralph Salisbury, Native Americal poet, Lars Nordström, Swedish translator, and Harald Gaski, Sami scholar - has had the usual task of translators, to render a version as faithful to the original text as possible and the same time poetically effective.
Dietmar Eckell - Happy End
_Happy End_ is a photo-book about miracles in aviation history – 15 airplanes that had forced landings but all on board survived and were rescued from the remote locations. The planes remain abandoned in nowhere since 10-70 years. This series is for me more than wrecks not worth to recover: it's surreal – beautiful airplanes in vast landscapes with wonderful stories. _Happy End_ is about heroes – the pilots who turned disasters into miracles, destiny – to survive a crash-landing and get found in nowhere, time – they crashed in seconds and then remained untouched for decades, space – even majestic airplanes can look lost in vast nature, “the end” – while most planes get scrapped in junk yards, these found a place to “rest in peace”.
It started with my interest in the visual disruption of nostalgic technology in endless landscapes – but soon I got hooked to these planes/stories and spent almost 3 years researching and documenting them. Aviation miracles are rare and the planes remaining out there are very remote – but the challenge was motivation and it was like a pilgrimage to get to these “wonders” on 4 continents from Papua New Guinea to the Arctic Circle. My photography is not about documenting the planes' conditions & details but how they are embedded in grand nature after so many years. I try to capture the surreal beauty of these settings using high viewpoints or shooting through layers. Inspired by the shipwreck painters of the romantic period, I look for dramatic skies, late light or fall colors to “glorify” these wonderful planes.
