When the San José mine collapsed outside of Copiapó, Chile, in August 2010, it trapped thirty-three miners beneath thousands of feet of rock for a record-breaking sixty-nine days. The entire world watched what transpired above-ground during the grueling and protracted rescue, but the saga of the miners’ experiences below the Earth’s surface—and the lives that led them there—has never been heard until now.
For Deep Down Dark, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Héctor Tobar received exclusive access to the miners and their tales. These thirty-three men came to think of the mine, a cavern inflicting constant and thundering aural torment, as a kind of coffin, and as a church where they sought redemption through prayer. Even while still buried, they all agreed that if by some miracle any of them escaped alive, they would share their story only collectively. Héctor Tobar was the person they chose to hear, and now to tell, that story.
The result is a masterwork or narrative journalism—a riveting, at times shocking, emotionally textured account of a singular human event. Deep Down Dark brings to haunting, tactile life the experience of being imprisoned inside a mountain of stone, the horror of being slowly consumed by hunger, and the spiritual and mystical elements that surrounded working in such a dangerous place. In its stirring final chapters, it captures the profound way in which the lives of everyone involved in the disaster were forever changed.

Geoff Taylor - Ewan Wilson - “Goodnight Malaysian 370”
The truth behind the loss of Flight 370 will shock the travelling public. The book by New Zealand pilot Ewan Wilson and journalist Geoff Taylor presents compelling evidence about what actually occurred in the final hours of Flight 370, some of it based on new interviews with family members of pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah. The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 captured the world's attention and shocked everyone. The book takes you to Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8 and brings together the lives of passengers and crew who ultimately met their fate on board what should have been a routine flight to Beijing on a well respected airline operating a state-of-the-art airliner with a near faultless record. For the first time the book presents a detailed analysis of the flight, the incredible route it took, and who the authors believe was in charge of the aircraft as it plunged into the Indian Ocean. The book investigates each piece of evidence and eliminates all the possible scenarios until the reader is left with one shocking and unbelievable conclusion as to what happened to end the lives of 239 people that night. What happened to MH370 was no accident. It was deliberate and it was calculated and it should never have been allowed to happen.

The connection with the aircraft performing trip from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, went dead about two hours after takeoff from the capital of Malaysia, at 20:40 local time in Friday (March 7, 2014). At this point, the liner was above the South China Sea, about 120 nautical miles from Kota Baru. According to board the plane traveled 154 citizens of China, 38 Malaysians, 5 Indians, 7 Indonesians, 7 Australians and one man from Russia and the Netherlands. In the beginning all hope of finding the plane were related to "yellow object" floating near the disappearance of the liner.
Laszlo Giricz - Flight MH370
“Mom, mom, mom! Look! There is the pilot!” A young girl with a pink headband was running towards her parents and waved with her hands at a man in uniform who was walking towards the gate. He heard her excitement and stopped, “Good evening, young lady. Are you ready for a short flight to China?” She must have been only around four years, but she pressed her hands against her hips with the confidence of a young lady, put her head back, and replied with a strong voice: “For me, flying is nothing special. We fly all the time! I am just happy that you are not late. Not like last week where we had to wait hours for our pilot.” Her mother was embarrassed and apologised to the pilot, “I am so sorry, I do not know what to say.” He laughed and nodded towards the girl, “That is quite alright. I will go and make sure we will take off in time.” “You better!” said the girl and smiled back at him. “What is your name?” she asked. “I am Karim and I will be your pilot today. Rest assured, this will be a quiet flight.”

Erick T. Hall - The Zombie Plane
Investigative report of the disappearance of flight MH370. The whereabouts of the plane is only one question still unanswered. The investigators are also considering: If the two pilots were involved in the disappearance, were they working together or alone, or with one or more of the passengers or crew? Did they fly the plane under duress or of their own will? Did one or more of the passengers manage to break into the cockpit or use the threat of violence to gain entry and then seize the plane? And what possible motive could there be for diverting the jet? Why don't we have any answers?
Adolf Hitler - Mein Kampf
A mű a nácizmus ideológiai alapvetése lett.
John P. Choisser - Malaysia Flight MH370: Lost in the Dark
(A 2014-es papíralapú CreateSpace kiadás fülszövege:) The missing flight isn’t in the news quite as much now. The pings have stopped, and the search is entering a second, much slower, phase. The unanswered questions are many. But by most accounts, it is being assumed that the pilots are criminals, suicidal maniacs, hijackers, or terrorists, since no one else on the airplane appears to fit those descriptions. It may be a long time before we know for sure, but in the meantime, I believe the public, and particularly the pilot’s families, need to know that there is a high likelihood that they are victims, and heroic victims at that. The purpose of this book is also not to place blame on anyone in particular, although, as we’ll see, there might have been an opportunity to save the airplane. In the news, there does not seem to be much credibility given to the possibility that what happened was an accident. A rare accident, we hope, but an accident nonetheless. But even given an accident, can blame be placed for making the situation worse? Could there have been negligence in avoiding the escalation of an accident into a disaster? I say yes. I believe we can place blame for this, and it’s not on the pilots. Knowing more about how the airplane and its various systems work will help members of the public more accurately judge the relevancy of the various scenarios being discussed. I can imagine some of my friend’s eyes glazing over while reading some of the technical information presented in this book. And skimming over those sections or skipping them is OK. But these are the bases for the conclusions I reach, so you can either read them or take them on faith. This kind of knowledge will also answer questions like “why didn’t the passengers answer their cell phones?” and “was someone hiding in the cargo bay?”, and “how can the airplane fly by itself?”, and “a hacker got into the flight computer and flew the airplane!” If we keep speculation grounded in the real world, based on how things actually work (and don’t work), some of the more realistic theories can be better evaluated. That’s why there is so much engineering stuff in this book, which you may want to skip over. It’s there as much to explain what is impossible as much as what things are possible. My hypothesis is that the pilots are heroes. Lost in the dark, without flight instruments, with smoke in the cockpit, flying under extreme stress and awesome responsibility, and hoping against hope to see a fighter interceptor outside their window to guide them home, they knew the minutes left on their oxygen system were numbered. They have not survived their ordeal, and, in my opinion, died trying to save the flight. And this small book will not bring solace to the families of the rest of the crew and passengers. But the dedicated effort the pilots and crew probably made amidst the terror and confusion may be worthy of hero status. I feel for all of the victims’ families, but especially for the families of the pilots, who are not only grieving, but whose probably heroic loved ones are (perhaps necessarily, but unfortunately) being labeled otherwise.

Peter Lee - MH370
If you want to know what really happened to flight MH 370, this book is a must-buy. In 'MH 370: By Accident or Design', a former military pilot and air traffic control officer analyses the exact sequence of events that took place on the night of 8 March 2014 when Malaysia Airlines' flight MH 370 took off from Kuala Lumpur and then vanished from the face of the Earth. He strips away the clouds of confusion to get right to the heart of the mystery, and suggests a believable and logical explanation for everything that happened that night. On the way, he analyses some of the alternative explanations that have been offered, including the conspiracy theories, and looks at the latest information from the Far East. Some recently published works on this subject were rushed into print before the few indisputable facts were known, and many have been based on little more than the author's personal opinion, almost irrespective of these facts, or have been founded on apparently factual information that has since been discredited. This book starts off with no preconceptions at all. The author looks only at the facts of the matter, and has worked out a possible and believable explanation that covers everything we know about this flight from take-off to its ultimate fate. He also explains exactly how the aircraft systems – things like SSR, ACARS and ADS-B – work, and provides an overview of the satellite communications system that was able to provide basic tracking data for the aircraft long after voice communications ceased. He explains the crucial significance of the position where the aircraft vanished from Malaysia's radar screens, and why that precise location was chosen by the perpetrator of this disappearance. And he shows why the route that the aircraft subsequently followed was not accidental, but entirely deliberate, and chosen for one very specific reason. He concludes his analysis by explaining approximately where the aircraft is now, and why no confirmed wreckage from the aircraft has been found anywhere. As a military controller, Peter Lee has previously been involved in aircraft accident and investigation procedures as apart of his job. He was solely responsible for deducing the precise reason, and specific sequence of events, that led to the loss of a Royal Navy Sea Harrier in the North Irish Sea some years ago, an event that at first sight appeared completely inexplicable, and was the principal expert witness at the subsequent Board of Inquiry. In the case of flight MH 370, he has turned that same critical eye on this disappearance, and his suggested explanation for what happened is both logical and believable. If you read no other book about this mystery, read this one.

According to government estimates, over 315,000 people had been killed and another 300,000 injured by the 7.0 quake. In some cases, survivors envied the dead: Between one million and 1.8 million Haitians were made homeless by the catastrophe and today, over a year later, over 750,000 of them remain in crowded, often dangerous detention cases. No one in the public health field knows more about this crisis than Dr. Paul Farmer, the co-founder of Partners in Health made famous by Tracy Kidder's arresting portrait in the bestselling Mountains Beyond Mountains.
