Syfka, an ancient falcon, has arrived from Ahnmik claiming that one of her people is hidden in their midst. The falcons are more powerful than the avians and serpiente combined, and Syfka shows nothing but contempt for Zane and Danica’s alliance. To Zane’s horror, his own people seem just as appalled as Syfka is by the thought of a mixed-blood child becoming heir to the throne. Is Syfka’s lost falcon just a ruse to stir up controversy among them? The truth lies somewhere in their tangled pasts—and the search will redefine Zane and Danica’s fragile future.

October Jones - Texts from Dog

A classic tale of Man & Dog for the gadget driven internet generation. After taking screenshots of his canine conversations, Butcher posted them to his 10,000 Twitter followers, then created a Tumblr, which attracted over 80,000 followers in a month. Michael Crichton - Next
Bestseller Crichton (Jurassic Park) once again focuses on genetic engineering in his cerebral new thriller, though the science involved is a lot less far-fetched than creating dinosaurs from DNA. In an ambitious effort to show what's wrong with the U.S.'s current handling of gene patents and with the laws governing human tissues, the author interweaves many plot strands, one involving a California researcher, Henry Kendall, who has mixed human and chimp DNA while working at NIH. Kendall produces an intelligent hybrid whom he rescues from the government and tries to pass off as a fully human child. Some readers may be disappointed by the relative lack of action, the lame attempts to lighten the mood with humor (especially centering on an unusually bright parrot named Gerard), and the contrived convergence of the main characters toward the end. Still, few can match Crichton in crafting page-turners with intellectual substance, and his opinions this time are less likely to create a firestorm than his controversial take on global warming in 2004's State of Fear.

Stephen Turnbull - Kawanakajima 1553-64
Kawanakajima is unique in history. In the space of 12 years, between 1553 and 1564, this valley deep in the mountains of central Japan witnessed no fewer than five battles between two of Japan’s greatest warlords. Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin were both descended from great families and were highly skilled tacticians. Both had taken the tonsure and risen to high rank in their respective Buddhist sects. When Shingen attempted to seize control of Shinano province they were set on a collision course. Stephen Turnbull chronicles the see-saw struggle between two men who epitomize the warrior daimyo from Japan’s ‘Warring States’ period.
Charles Squire - Celtic Mythology
Celtic mythology is as rich in its way as the mythologies of the Classical world and Scandinavia. It not only includes gods and the giants against whom they struggled, warriors like Cúchulainn and the champions of the Red Branch of Ulster or Fionn and his Fianna, but also lovers like Deidre and Naoise or Diarmaid and Grainne. It is rich in legends that survived by word of mouth, not being written down until after the advent of the Christian era, and many of these legends went on to fuel the imaginations of the writers who gave us the stories of Arthur and his Knights and the Norman French romances. This fascinating book tells the stor of how Celtic mythology survived in a world in which writing was prohibited and evolved to take into account historical events and the coming of Christianity. It also contains many of the famous legends themselves, drawing parallels to many of them with the Classical myths of Greece and Rome. In addition there is an A-Z guide that describes the legacy and the customs of the Celts as well as the personalities of their mythology.
