Adolf Hitler - Mein Kampf
A mű a nácizmus ideológiai alapvetése lett.
Glyn Daniel - A Short History of Archaeology
Archaeology is generally thought to have begun with the first excavations at Herculaneum and Pompeii in the mid-18th century. But A SHORT HISTORY OF ARCHAEOLOGY begins long before that time period, with the ancient Babylonians' search for their own ancestors about 2,500 years ago. The book continues from there right up to the relatively recent discovery of the tomb of Alexander the Great's father in Northern Greece and the spectacular army of terra-cotta figures guarding the burial mound of the Chinese Emperor Huang Ti. A SHORT HISTORY OF ARCHAEOLOGY goes beyond the historical highlights we commonly think of with regard to archaeological findings. This book also looks more globally at research being done in Eastern Asia (India and China, primarily) and in the Americas as well. Included is a survey of the progress of archeology as a science, not just discovery of ancient times, places, and objects--leading to crucial advances of our understanding of man's past.
Robert Keith Wallace - The Physiology of Consciousness
If America is to continue as a powerful, positive influence in the world, Americans must be strong and balanced in body and mind. Yet an overwhelming number of Americans suffer from poor health. The health care crisis is far more fundamental than delivery of existing health care; it is a problem of the very world view upon which modern medicine is based. To be truly effective, medicine must take advantage of the more comprehensive, up-to-date, and holistic understanding of nature provided by twentieth-century science. It is time for a new medical paradigm based on the unified field. This new medical paradigm, which is brilliantly described by Dr. Robert Keith Wallace in this book, has historical roots in the most ancient tradition of knowledge in the world - the Vedic tradition of India. Maharishi Mehesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation, has worked with modern scientists and scholars of the Vedic tradition to bring to light a wealth of knowledge and practical technologies based on the most profound and comprehensive understanding of natural law. The Physiology of Consciousness is about the rediscovery of this knowledge and Dr. Wallace's contribution to it's powerful and timely resurgence. He lucidly presents a world view based on Maharishi's Vedic Science which integrates the concepts of mind and body, consciousness and matter, and extends our concept of health beyond the individual to include the collective health of society.
Gordon Williamson - Kriegsmarine U-boats 1939-45 (2)
This title follows from New Vanguard 51: Kriegsmarine U-boats 1939–45 (1) and charts the continuing development of the U-boat in German service, including the evolution of the Type IX as a long range 'cruiser' intended for solo operations in distant waters. Also covered is the revolutionary Type XXI, conceived of in 1942 and launched in April 1944, the first true submarine rather than submersible, whose arrival was just too late to influence the war. Other vessels covered are the Type XXIII, a small vessel armed with only two torpedoes but technically highly advanced, and the Type X minelayers, which were rarely used in their intended role and more often used as supply boats.
Gary Althen - Janet Bennett - American Ways
With a more globalized economy and a redefinition of the American in the overseas workplace, we have a growing need to address cross-cultural communication and determine how to bridge the inevitable gaps in understanding. American Cultural Patterns: A Cross-Cultural Perspective, originally published in 1972, is an indispensable classic that has been used extensively as a classroom textbook for its comprehensive, critical approach to American thought and behavior. In this revised edition, Edward C. Stewart and Milton J. Bennett combine their expertise to describe Americans' perception both of themselves and the world as well as their values, their common patterns of thinking and their verbal and nonverbal behaviors. By juxtaposing these traits against the cultures of both Western and non-Western countries, we get a comprehensive look at the possible pitfalls in communicating with Americans and guidelines on how to avoid misunderstanding. Insightful and practical, American Cultural Patterns is a must-have for any who wish to communicate effectively with their American counterparts.

Angus Konstam - Pavia 1525
The battle of Pavia has been hailed as the first modern battle, marking the rise of hand held weapons as a tool of warfare. In this titanic clash - the most decisive of the Italian Wars, caused by French territorial ambitions in first the Kingdom of Naples and then the Duchy of Milan - the French troops were smashed by the Spanish Imperial Army. King Francis I was captured, and the cream of his nobility slaughtered. France's greatest defeat since Agincourt, the battle dramatically swung the balance of power in Western Europe.
Carlos Ruiz Zafón - The Shadow of the Wind
Hidden in the heart of the old city of Barcelona is the 'cemetery of lost books', a labyrinthine library of obscure and forgotten titles that have long gone out of print. To this library, a man brings his 10-year-old son Daniel one cold morning in 1945. Daniel is allowed to choose one book from the shelves and pulls out LA SOMBRA DEL VIENTO by Julian Carax. But as he grows up, several people seem inordinately interested in his find. Then, one night, as he is wandering the old streets once more, Daniel is approached by a figure who reminds him of a character from LA SOMBRA DEL VIENTO, a character who turns out to be the devil. This man is tracking down every last copy of Carax's work in order to burn them. What begins as a case of literary curiosity turns into a race to find out the truth behind the life and death of Julian Carax and to save those he left behind. A page-turning exploration of obsession in literature and love, and the places that obsession can lead.
Phil Borges - Tibet - Culture on the Edge
Firsthand accounts and spectacular photographs combine to form a fascinating portrait of the endangered Tibetan people, their plateau, and their cultural landscape. Known as the water tower of Asia, the Tibetan Plateau is heating up twice as fast as the global average. These rapidly melting glaciers-along with recent unprecedented development on the plateau-are quickly changing the lives of the deeply devotional nomads, monks, and farmers who have lived in this area for centuries.Photographer Phil Borges uses individual stories and portraits to illustrate how dramatic development, climate change, and the deep devotion of the Tibetan people are interacting to transform Tibetan culture. The portraits of the land and the people bring a powerful visual component as the reader meets and learns about Tibet firsthand through these storytellers.
James Gleick - Chaos
Chaos records the birth of a new science. This new science offers a way of seeing order and pattern where formerly only the random, the erratic, the unpredictable - in short, the chaotic - had been observed. In the words of Douglas Hofstadter, "It turns out that an eerie type of chaos can lurk just behind a facade of order - and yet, deep inside the chaos lurks an even eerier type of order." Although highly mathematical in origin, chaos is a science of the everyday world, addressing questions every child has wondered about: how clouds form, how smoke rises, how water eddies in a stream. Chaos is a history of discovery. It chronicles, in the words of the scientists themselves, their conflicts and frustrations, their emotions and moments of revelation. After reading Chaos, you will never look at the world in quite the same way again.
Ismeretlen szerző - Cultural and Landscape Changes in South-East Hungary II.
Complete publication of the Prehistoric, Sarmatian and Late Avar settlement at Gyoma 133 (Békés County Microregion). This is a full excavation report on work carried out between 1986 and 1988, the last season being in advance of development. The bulk of material is of Sarmatian (Roman) date and involves three occupation levels, the second involving extensive evidence of metallurgy. Particularly interesting are the results of animal bone study which allow a new picture of Sarmatian agriculture to be built up. The Sarmatians were great horsemen and the discovery of articulated remains of horses and dogs seem to indicate ritual treatment of these important animals.

Robert T. Kiyosaki - Sharon L. Lechter - Rich Dad's Guide to Investing
The rich get richer. The poor get poorer. Robert Kiyosaki reveals the secrets of how the wealthiest Americans become even wealthier, and how _ALL Americans_ can learn how to benefit from some simple investing secrets -- merely by knowing where and how to invest their money. We've all heard that plaint many times before. But finally, that long standing monetary tradition has been shattered, as Kiyosaki explains how even the smallest investor can start benefitting from the investing patterns of the richest folks. Robert Kiyosaki knows all this first hand. There was a time in the 1980s when he and his wife, Kim, were so cash poor that they were forced to sleep in their car. Today, however, the Kiyosakis are multi-millionaires, and are considered highly sophisticated investors. Based upon the four tenets of _Rich Dad, Poor Dad_ (are you an employee, self-employed, business owner, or an investor?) the Investing Guide explains the nuts-and-bolts approach to understanding the real earning power of money, and how you can start cashing today. Along the way, Kiyosaki explains how he's invested his monies as his own wealth has grown over the years.

How did security staff at LA International Airport miss 75 per cent of bomb-making materials that went through screening? Which way should you turn before joining a supermarket queue? Why should a woman hope it was a man who witnessed her bag being snatched? And what possessed Burt Reynolds to punch a guy with no legs? Hallinan explains the everyday mistakes that shape our lives, and what we can do to prevent them happening.
