‘An artist, in my eyes, is someone who can lighten up a dark room. I have never and will never find difference between the pass from Pele to Carlos Alberto in the final of the World Cup in 1970, and the poetry of the young Rimbaud’ Eric Cantona Football, and art. Eric Cantona – legend, maverick, troubled artist or just plain trouble – never saw a need to make a distinction between the two. For all the heat and noise surrounding his infamous Crystal Palace ‘kung-fu kick’, it is for the sheer exuberant beauty of his play that Eric Cantona is chiefly remembered by English football fans. At Leeds United he transformed the team into title contenders, but became a true talisman at Manchester United, where to this day fans sing of ‘King Eric’. And yet the effortless style of Cantona’s play could not hide a darker side to his temperament. In his own words, ‘I play with passion and fire. I have to accept that sometimes, this fire does harm.’ Leading French football journalist Philippe Auclair has interviewed over 200 key protagonists in Cantona’s career, searching for the man behind the myth. Marrying a deep knowledge of Cantona’s impact on the pitch with soulful, pin-sharp insight into the heart and inner thoughts of this most complex of characters, this is nothing less than the definitive biography of a one-time rebel of the French game, who rose to be the King of Old Trafford. ’I’d give all the champagne I’ve ever drunk to be playing alongside Cantona in a big European match at Old Trafford’ George Best

Andrew Dettre - Silver Jubilee of St. George-Budapest (1957-1982)
Where Thanks Are Due...
By Alex Pongrass, President of St. George-Budapest
On this magnificent occasion, our 25th birthday, we should pay generous tribute to all those people who have helped to make this club into what it is today.
Even among those, one should single out the handful who have given many years of excellent service, often dacrificing pesonal ambitions, to develop our club. It"s been said before but it doesn't make it less true: the organisation within a club depends on the work of many people. Even the biggest wheel grinds to a halt without the numerous smaller cogs.
If I can single out just two achievements from the annaés of our 25 years, I consider it an easy task.
The second great achievement is the smooth friendly and very active co-operation between the juniors and seniors who come under the club's umbrella. This, perhaps more than any other single factor, assures the club's future in the years to come.
Still, this future has to be secured and we do need more and more young people, more fresh blood, to join us in the administration of this club. A new generation of leaders and co-workers will have to be found, groomed and encouraged to take the club towards its next silver jubilee, in 2007.
Only then can we sit back and relax a bit, in the happy knowledge that the sacrifices of the founders and pioneers have not been in vain.
Gyenes J. András - Mindhalálig a kapuban
1993. szeptember 1-jén a Springer-szobor felőli kapuban melegített a válogatott edzőmérkőzése előtt.
Iszonyúan szűkre szabott idő a sorstól.
Art Briles - Don Yaeger - Beating Goliath
Growing up in Rule, Texas, Art Briles learned at a young age the importance of hard work and faith from his parents. Soon that faith would be tested.
On their way to see him play in a college football game, Briles’ parents and aunt died in a car crash. This event shaped Briles into the man he is today. His father, Dennis, left him with a series of lessons. He taught his son that the world doesn’t just hand you things, you have to earn them. And he taught him the influence that faith could have in his life.
Briles put these lessons to work as a football coach, where he established his reputation for turning struggling teams into winners, from high school to the staff at Texas Tech to head coach at the University of Houston. Hired to coach Baylor in 2007, he was faced with a familiar task. Within three years, Briles led the Bears to their first bowl game in 15 years.
Today, he instills those same lessons into his young players, helping them find a reason to excel. There are plenty of excuses for failure but Briles surrounds himself with people who are fearless when it comes to chasing success. That is one of the many lessons he imparts to his readers, with chapters that include:
* God and the Teaching of Dennis Briles
* Finding Your Passion
* You Can Change Attitude, Not Talent
* Passing in the Land of Earl Campbell
* Everybody is a Captain
Filled with dramatic football stories and lessons learned, this book will inspire and entertain.
